Logging

Tracks played, various events, warnings and errors are logged to one or more CSV files located in the path specified in the Log Folder option.

Each type of track is associated with a type number as follows:

0 = General track (CD icon).
1 = Spots, time announcements.
2 = Voice tracks, song intro's, song outro's, and overlapped time announcements.
3 = Break Notes, executables.
4 = Carts.
5 = Commercials from traffic software
6 = Studio Monitor TCP server connections and errors.
7 = skipped tracks - tracks that were not played at the end of an hour.
8 = events such as playlist loaded, hour markers loaded, program loaded & terminated.
9 = warnings & errors.

When a type 9 error or warning occurs, a button will flash on the screen . Click the button to view the current days log in Notepad. The appearance of this button may be disabled by enabling the general option No Error Button.

The General Log can also be viewed from the View menu.

Time announcements will either be logged as type 1 or 2 depending on the Time Announce Overlap option.

Only the Pro version of Studio supports the logging of types 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6.

General tracks, spots, and miscellaneous events may be output to one single file, or divided into 3 separate files (Studio Pro only). This is controlled by the Separate Log Files option on the General Options tab.

New log files are created everyday at midnight. When Separate Log Files is enabled, the filenames are:

Track Log (type 0): STrack-yymmdd.CSV
Spot Log (types 1, 2 & 5): SSpot-yymmdd.CSV
General Log (all other types): SLog-yymmdd.CSV
(yy=year, mm=month, dd=day)

eg. The General Log for April 30, 2005 would be SLog-050430.CSV

The General Log may be viewed

When Separate Log Files is disabled, all items are logged to the General Log file.

The Track and Spot log files may be completely customized based on templates of parameters specified in the Track Info & Logging options.

The log files will load directly into a spreadsheet which may be used to filter or sort the entries by type, to provide track information for performing rights reports, or billing information for advertisements, etc. StationPlaylist Creator also has a logging system which produces smaller log summaries of tracks & spots used. However, Studio's logs may be required because not all scheduled tracks may be played, and additional tracks or spots may be manually inserted into Studio.
